Effective Immediately: No Passport Applications will be accepted until further notice. The Upper and Lower Bucks Government Services Centers Prothonotary Counters are closed. For a time certain to file with the Prothonotary, please call one of the following numbers:
Family Court matters- 215.348.6822 (Family Court Operations Memo)
Civil matters- 215.348.6191

It is strongly recommended that you call ahead. Otherwise, visitors who arrive without having called ahead will wait in a queue and be seen in order, based on their time of arrival. Visitors in the queue will be asked to maintain a distance of six feet from other persons at all times.

Where To Apply For A Passport

Until Further Notice there will be No Passport Service through the Prothonotary's Office

You can apply for a passport at one of the following offices. Applications for a passport and forms for renewal of a passport can be obtained at any of the offices listed below. The average processing time is eight to 10 weeks. To download an application form click here.

All minors applying for a passport must appear in person.

Remember, when applying for a new passport DO NOT SIGN the application until you appear before us.

Applicants must bring their own copies of identifying documents, front and back, plus two checks or money orders for payment.

Normal Hours: 
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

        Additional Hours --      Passports Only: 
The Office of the Prothonotary is open until 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
The Bucks County Prothonotary's Office will NOT have extended, evening hours on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 for passports.

Please note: In case of closure, all services provided by the Government Services Centers can be performed in Doylestown.

 The Passport counter at the Lower Bucks (as of January 6) Government Services Center is closed until further notice.  New hours will be posted in the coming weeks. We apologize for the disruption in service.  Passports applications are accepted at the Justice Center in Doylestown.
